Festive July 4th Foods (Allergy and Vegan Friendly)!

Holidays are an awesome time to gather with friends, but it can also be a stressful time if you are hosting a party at home. You want to offer options for everyone but with so many different dietary needs it’s hard to be sure what to make. Check out these easy healthy options that offer something for everyone without sacrificing flavor or fun!

MAINS

Smoky Black Bean Sliders

These vegan burgers offer a healthy alternative to the American classic that is full of fiber, antioxidants and flavor!  To make this burger into a slider, simply make the patty smaller. Pair with My Bread dinner roll, cut in half, for a healthy festive finger food!

Pumpkin or sunflower seeds can be used as a substitute for the pecans to make this recipe friendly for the no-nut crowd!

Vegan Hot Dog Bar

For a simpler summer main, check out Yeah Dawg vegan hot dogs. These vegan hot dogs are soy free, gluten free and less processed that most meat alternatives which makes it an easy delicious alternative to offer to a standard hotdog. Set up a toppings bar and include sweet beans, ketchup, mustards, vegan cheese, grilled onions, sour kraut, and other fixings to add some flare to that dog, dawg.

SIDES

Grilled Potato Salad (Mayo Free)!

This potato salad will add the perfect pop to your summer bbq meal. Made with mustard aioli this side is super yummy and nutritious!

No Mayo Vegan Broccoli Salad

Broccoli salad is a summer staple where I’m from! Sweet, salty, cool and creamy make for a delicious combo to lighten up your bbq mains!

Red, White and Blue Fruit Salad

This flavorful, four ingredient fruit salad is simple, cool, delicious, and nutrient packed! To make it vegan, use pure maple syrup instead of honey as a sweetener, and place the coconut flakes on the side as an ala carte for those with any nut allergy!

Vegan Grilled Mexican Street Corn

Okay so this isn’t vegan grilled AMERICAN street corn but America is a beautiful melting pot…and what could be more American than corn?! This is a vegan twist on a delicious Mexican staple that you do not want to miss.

Ice pops are a delicious summertime favorite but they can be filled with synthetic additives, dyes and preservatives. Check out this simple recipe for home made ice pops! Make it vegan by substituting maple syrup for the honey and a vegan heavy cream (or coconut cream) for the non-vegan version!

Blueberry and Watermelon Sparklers

This desert could be cuter or more simple! All you need is a skewer, some blueberries and some watermelon. Slice the watermelon into sturdy ½ inch thick slices, use a star cookie cutter to cut the watermelon into star shapes. Take some blueberries and line them onto the skewer, top with the watermelon star, keep cold until ready to serve! You can also use any other fruits you desire on the skewer!

No Bake Lemon Berry Vegan Cheese Cake Cups

This recipe is a winner if you are looking for something quick that will not heat up your home in the dead of summer! These cupcakes provide a cool creamy treat for a warm summer night! This recipe does contain nuts but could be made with pumpkin or sunflower seeds instead, just be aware this may impact the color!
